The first FlexVolt hedge trimmer from DeWalt, operating at 54 Volts for excellent blade speed and torque. The higher voltage combined with a high-performance brushless DC motor unit allows DeWalt to include a 650mm long bar with blades on both sides, with a gap between the blades that allows you to cut branches up to an impressive 31mm. This machine is equivalent in performance to a petrol-powered tool but with less noise and no petrol or oil fumes.

As mentioned, the brushless motor gives extra performance and power, but it also has the advantage that it is practically maintenance-free, and gives much longer runtime per battery pack. The battery included with this kit is the DCB547, which is an XR FlexVolt pack that has a capacity of 9.0 Amp-hours. You can use this battery with any other 54V or 18V XR power tool, or use any other 54V XR battery with this hedge trimmer. To charge the battery up, DeWalt includes a DCB118 fast charger that is also capable of charging 18V XR batteries.
